Dr. Yu-Chuan Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resource and Environmental Studies at the National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan. She earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Her research and teaching interests include environmental chemistry, bionic structure, bionic//sustainable education, and popular-science promotion/assessment. She has organized the annual Scientific Week in Hualien during 2015-2018 which involving 3000 students ages 7-15 doing experiments together every year. Based on inquiry learning and cooperative learning, older students are trained as instructors to teach the experiments to younger schoolmates.

Dr. Yang’s recent work focuses on encouraging student interests in biomimicry-centered interdisciplinary topics, developing inquiry-based teaching modules and assessments to evaluate student abilities and attitudes, and exploring biomimetic structures and related functions of selected biological items. She is a recipient of Outstanding/Excellence in Teaching and in Tutoring from National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan.
